Announcing our New National Director

New National Director of Leading your Church into Growth appointed

The Trustees of Leading your Church into Growth (LyCiG) are delighted to announce the appointment of Revd Sue Cooke as the new National Director of LyCiG. Sue has been appointed to succeed Revd Canon Robin Gamble, our inspirational founder and current director, who is retiring after over 30 years of remarkable ministry with LyCiG.

Sue is currently the Vicar of the Parish of St Thomas with St Stephen in Balham, South West London. Sue’s ordained ministry to date has spanned the dioceses of Guildford and Oxford and, prior to ordination, she was a secondary school teacher. She has been a member of the LyCiG core volunteer team for some years, leading and speaking at Church Growth Conferences in the U.K. and overseas.

Sue is taking on this new role at an absolutely pivotal point in the LyCiG story. We are excited to be partnering with the Church of England to more than double our impact, inspiring and supporting more parishes and more leaders than ever before to grow their churches. We will also be deepening and expanding our work with children, young people and families. We are confident that, after a thorough and spirit-filled discernment process, Sue is the right person to lead us into this next chapter. She brings rich personal experience in growing churches and a real passion to bring people to know Jesus in their lives.

Sue says, “I am thrilled to be appointed as National Director of LYCiG after being a volunteer conference leader for several years. It had to be a special role to take me away from parish ministry which I love. The joy of this role is knowing I will be helping other clergy and lay leaders to flourish and feel hopeful in their own parish ministry. I look forward to working with all the team and ask for their prayers as I prepare to leave my current role and take on the
leadership mantle from the indomitable Robin Gamble. This is an exciting time for LYCiG and I am proud of what we as a team can offer the Church of England as we encourage the local parish church.”

We know that you will join us in welcoming Sue to this new role with LyCiG and ask you to pray for her and everyone involved with LyCiG at this exciting and challenging time. Sue will begin her role as the Director of LyCiG on the 1st of February, 2025.
